The Alton Ghost Walk

It is 1867… a year that places Alton in the history books with a notoriety to rival that of Whitechapel of London. Beyond the tourist trail, the dark lanes and streets hide secrets of ghosts, conspiracy and smugglers. Join the Theatre of Dark Encounters as we bring these stories to life in a truly immersive experience, as ghosts of the past come to tell their tales of well-known haunting spots in the town, including; St Lawrence Church, Flood Meadows, The Crown Hotel and the Swan Hotel.

You will learn a little, you will laugh a little - but hopefully you will scream a lot…

The tour begins at the Town Square and will involve a walk around the Town Centre. There is very little cover so please wear precautions against the weather.

The tour will last approximately 1 - 1.5 hours and involves interaction with actors and group participation - the tour offers a unique perspective to the town after dark.
Suitable for 12 years and up when accompanied by an adult.

Places are very limited, so early booking online is essential - do not leave it to the day.

Important information

Thank you for booking onto our Ghost Walk of Alton.

AT THE BEGINNING OF THE EVENT

On the night make your way to the Alton Town Hall and wait for your guide - who will then sign you in for your tour. We suggested parking in Lady Place car park as the closest start and end of the Tour.

There are a few steps as we move around relatively even streets but will be in low level light. We will be going from the flood meadows up the hill to St Lawrence Church but after that everything is relatively easy going. If you have any concerns with mobility please do not hesitate to get in contact with us. The tour will take place whatever the weather, so please bring suitable clothing and shoes.

This email acts as your e-ticket; we have a list of names at the location and everyone is signed in at the beginning of the event. We run a strict "no tolerance" policy on alcohol, drugs and threatening behaviour. Because of the nature of these tours, the low level lighting and the very special locations we attend if we even suspect you have been drinking or display threatening behaviour towards the actors you will be removed from the walk immediately with no refund.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to get in contact; call 01962 435020 or reply to this email.
