It is home to around 100,000 birds in the summer months (April to July), including over 200 puffin pairs, guillemots, razorbills, great skuas, and fulmars, and a visit is an absolute must for keen bird watchers. Handa also boasts dramatic sea cliffs, beautiful trails, and stunning white sand beaches boarding turquoise seas. Therefore, it really offers a delightful day out for everyone.
We reach the island via a small ferry, and the short 10-15 crossing is a delight in itself. Our walk incorporates the beaches, the magnificent Torridonian sandstone cliffs and, of course, the opportunity to see some of the amazing birdlife!
It’s a day not to be missed. Our drive from Ullapool is in itself a joy, with stunning scenery along the way and the opportunity to stop at some iconic viewpoints for memorable photos. There is also the option to self-drive if preferred.
